Chemical biology & Photonics facilities presentations.

At short notice we were invited to go to Beijing to showcase two of our proposals for laboratory facilities in the Guangming Science City in Shenzhen. Managed to get there and back in a long day. We are keeping our fingers crossed the funding comes through for these major initiatives.

HKU International Conference on Undergraduate Research in Science

This was a bit of an experiment. A conference aimed at advanced undergraduates for them to network with us and each other, to present their work and to learn about postgraduate opportunities in Hong Kong. Students from all over the world – at least 12 countries attended.

TCL

On Friday we signed an agreement with TCL to establish a joint centre on AI, funded by a generous multi-million dollar donation from TCL. The picture shows Faculty members with TCL representatives including LI Dongsheng, the long-standing Chairman of TCL (on my left).

HKU Reunion at the Races

A uniquely HKU event occurs annually when the Hong Kong Jockey Club make their box at Sha Tin race track over to the university. We invite our many friends, donors and alumni to spend the afternoon with us.

Shanghai Institute Materia Medica
