National Day, Mid-autumn
Only a three-day working week this week. National Day (71st Anniversary of the founding of PRC) coincided with Mid-autumn festival this year, removing Thursday and Friday from the working week. In Mainland China there is an entire ‘golden week’ of public holiday to mark the National Day, but in Hong Kong we are restricted to just one day. It will be interesting to see in 2 weeks time whether there is a jump in Covid cases in Mainland China after the mixing of people that happens on these week-long holidays. We were anticipating hearing the outcome of the Faculty Review this week, but that did not happen with the session just becoming another Q&A. The review team is clearly going to recommend something about the research divisions though as ever since the very first question this has been mentioned.
